Best known for Calming systemic inflammation

What Is It?

Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide is a naturally occurring neuropeptide found in the gut, brain and immune system. It helps regulate inflammation, immune balance, vascular tone and digestive function. It's used in functional and regenerative medicine to promote whole-body restoration and balance.

Who May Benefit?

People tend to reach for VIP for:

  • Systemic inflammation that won't settle
  • Gut issues — IBS, SIBO, dysautonomia
  • Chronic inflammatory respiratory conditions
  • Circadian rhythm and sleep disruption
  • Brain fog and focus difficulties
  • Recovery after a long stretch of stress or a detox protocol

Benefits

  • Anti-inflammatory: calms systemic inflammation and supports immune modulation
  • Brain and mood support: protects neural tissue, may enhance focus and clarity
  • Respiratory function: supports lung tissue and oxygen flow
  • Digestive regulation: helps balance gut motility and secretion
  • Sleep and energy: supports healthy circadian rhythm and adrenal function
  • Circulation: expands blood vessels, improving nutrient and oxygen delivery

How It Works

VIP does two things at once that turn out to be related: it calms inflammatory signalling, and it dilates blood vessels. Better circulation means better delivery of everything your tissues need to repair, and less inflammation means less interference. That vessel dilation is also why some people feel flushed or lightheaded early on, and why hydration matters here.

What to Expect

This is a restoration peptide rather than a fast one. Typical run is 1–3 months, then reassess based on goals and tolerance.

Early on, some people notice flushing or slight dizziness from the vessel dilation. Stay well hydrated — VIP promotes vessel dilation and detox support, which can increase your fluid needs.

💛 T's Tip

VIP is one for the people whose whole system feels inflamed, love — gut, brain, sinuses, all of it at once. Two things I'd tell you. First, drink more water than you think you need; this one opens your blood vessels up and if you're dry you'll feel woozy and blame the peptide. Second, start at the very bottom. If you have low blood pressure, asthma, or anything going on with your heart rhythm, please talk to a provider before you start this one — that's not me covering myself, it genuinely matters with this peptide. Give it a month or two, not a week. 💛 — T

Mixing

Add 2 mL BAC water to the 10 mg vial. Slowly down the inside wall, swirl gently until clear — never shake — and refrigerate.

At this mix, the concentration is 5 mg/mL (5,000 mcg/mL), so 1 unit = 50 mcg.

Dosing (not medical advice)

Level Dose Units Notes
Low start 50 mcg 1 unit Begin slowly to gauge response
Moderate 100 mcg 2 units Common maintenance dose
Mid-range 200 mcg 4 units Typical mid-range titration
Higher 300 mcg 6 units Only if well tolerated
Upper 500 mcg 10 units Maximum daily suggested ceiling

Frequency: once or twice daily, morning or evening, sub-Q in the abdomen or thigh.

Cycle: 1–3 months, then reassess.

How Long Will One Vial Last?

One 10 mg vial (200 total units):

Dose Doses per vial
50 mcg (1 unit) 200 doses
100 mcg (2 units) 100 doses
200 mcg (4 units) 50 doses
500 mcg (10 units) 20 doses

Side Effects

  • Temporary flushing or dizziness, from vessel dilation
  • Mild drop in blood pressure
  • Loose stools or GI upset
  • Fatigue or nasal congestion, rarely

If you have low blood pressure, asthma, or heart rhythm irregularities, check with a qualified medical professional before use.

Storage

Refrigerate the reconstituted vial (36–46°F / 2–8°C). Don't shake it. Swab the stopper each time and use a fresh sterile syringe.

Helpful Tips

  • Inject sub-Q in the abdomen or thigh
  • Hydrate well — this is the single most useful tip with VIP
  • Morning or evening depending on how your body responds
  • Works best paired with adequate sleep, hydration and clean nutrition
  • Ideal for calming inflammation or recovering after a detox or a hard stretch
  • Rotate injection sites

FAQ

Can I combine this with my other peptides? Using more than one peptide is common and perfectly fine — but different peptides should not be combined in the same syringe. A few technically can be mixed, but they don't always play well together, and in some cases they can work against each other, so you lose the benefit of both. It isn't worth the guesswork. Keep each peptide in its own syringe — you can still take them in the same sitting, one right after another. When in doubt, keep them separate.

Why do I feel lightheaded? VIP dilates blood vessels, which can cause temporary flushing, dizziness or a mild drop in blood pressure. Being underhydrated makes it much more noticeable.

Who should be cautious with this one? Anyone with low blood pressure, asthma, or heart rhythm irregularities should talk to a qualified medical professional before starting.

How long before I know? This is a 1–3 month peptide. Reassess at the end of a cycle rather than partway through.

What does it stack well with? NAD+ for mitochondrial energy, Glutathione for detox and immune support, BPC-157 for gut lining and tissue repair, MOTS-C for cellular energy — all in separate syringes.

A Little Reminder

This isn't about perfection, it's about consistency. Calming a whole inflamed system takes weeks, not days, and water does more of the work than you'd think. You're not lazy and you're not broken. I'm really glad you're here. 💛
