What Is It?

Oxytocin is a naturally occurring hormone produced in the brain — often called the "bonding hormone." It plays an important role in emotional connection, trust, affection, childbirth, breastfeeding and healthy relationships.

It isn't considered a primary treatment for low libido. What people report instead is feeling more emotionally connected, affectionate, relaxed and receptive to physical intimacy.

Who May Benefit?

People tend to reach for oxytocin for:

  • Feeling emotionally distant from a partner
  • Anxiety around intimacy
  • Difficulty relaxing enough to feel close to anyone
  • Wanting more affection and touch, not necessarily more sex
  • Post-baby or post-breastfeeding, when things feel unfamiliar
  • General mood and emotional well-being

Benefits

Many people report:

  • Increased feelings of emotional closeness
  • Greater affection toward their partner
  • Reduced anxiety surrounding intimacy
  • Improved relaxation and calmness
  • Increased desire for physical touch and cuddling
  • Enhanced feelings of trust and connection

Some also notice improvements in overall mood and emotional well-being.

What Oxytocin Is Not

Worth being clear about, because it gets confused:

  • It is not a hormone replacement
  • It does not increase testosterone or estrogen
  • It is not a direct libido medication like PT-141

Instead, think of oxytocin as helping create an emotional environment where intimacy feels more natural.

How It Works

Oxytocin is the chemistry underneath feeling safe with someone — the thing your body already makes when you're held, or trusted, or genuinely comfortable. Supplementing it doesn't manufacture a feeling you don't have; it lowers the wall that's been standing in front of one.

What to Expect

Many people notice effects within 15–60 minutes. The emotional effects generally last 2–4 hours, though everyone's response differs.

Some people find the positive effects on connection continue well beyond the time they physically feel anything.

💛 T's Tip

This is a gentle one, love, and it's not the one people expect me to recommend. It isn't about sex — it's about the feeling before that, the being-comfortable-with-someone part. I tell people to take 2 units in the evening and then go and do something ordinary together: talk, watch something, sit on the couch. No agenda. The goal isn't to create pressure, it's to make closeness feel easy again. And a real thing I see a lot: if you've had a baby or just stopped nursing and you feel like you've lost yourself, you are so far from alone in that, and it does get better as your hormones settle. Be patient with yourself. 💛 — T

Mixing

Add 2 mL BAC water to the 10 mg vial. Slowly down the inside wall, swirl gently until clear — never shake — and refrigerate.

At this mix, the concentration is 5 mg/mL, so 1 unit = 50 mcg.

Dosing (not medical advice)

Dose Units
100 mcg 2 units
150 mcg 3 units
200 mcg 4 units
250 mcg 5 units

Suggested starting dose: 2 units (100 mcg), once daily in the evening.

Many people find it helpful to take it 30–60 minutes before spending quiet time with their partner — talking, watching a movie, cuddling, or sharing physical affection.

If needed and well tolerated, the dose may be increased gradually to 3–5 units (150–250 mcg).

How Long Will One Vial Last?

One 10 mg vial (200 total units):

Dose Doses per vial
100 mcg (2 units) 100 doses
150 mcg (3 units) ~66 doses
250 mcg (5 units) 40 doses

At 2 units daily, one vial lasts over three months.

Side Effects

Most people tolerate oxytocin well. Possible:

  • Mild headache
  • Flushing
  • Nasal congestion
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Temporary emotional sensitivity or tearfulness

Generally mild and temporary.

Storage

Refrigerate the reconstituted vial (36–46°F / 2–8°C). Don't shake it. Swab the stopper each time and use a fresh sterile syringe.

Helpful Tips

  • Inject sub-Q in the belly or thigh
  • Evening dosing, 30–60 minutes before time together
  • Start at 2 units — there's no rush here
  • Take the pressure off. The point is comfort and closeness, not performance
  • Rotate injection sites

A Few Extra Thoughts

If you've recently had a baby or recently stopped breastfeeding, remember that your hormones may still be adjusting. Be patient with yourself.

If you feel like you've "lost yourself," or intimacy suddenly feels unfamiliar, know that you're not alone. For many women, these feelings improve as hormones stabilise over time.

If symptoms continue despite giving your body time to recover, consider speaking with a healthcare provider who specialises in women's hormones or sexual health. Your symptoms deserve to be taken seriously.

FAQ

Can I combine this with my other peptides? Using more than one peptide is common and perfectly fine — but different peptides should not be combined in the same syringe. A few technically can be mixed, but they don't always play well together, and in some cases they can work against each other, so you lose the benefit of both. It isn't worth the guesswork. Keep each peptide in its own syringe — you can still take them in the same sitting, one right after another. When in doubt, keep them separate.

Oxytocin or PT-141? They work differently. Oxytocin may help foster emotional closeness and receptiveness. PT-141 is designed to increase sexual desire and arousal. For some people, improving emotional connection first is what makes later intimacy feel more natural.

Will this fix my libido? It isn't a libido medication and it isn't marketed as one. What it may do is make closeness feel easier — which for a lot of people is the actual missing piece.

I felt teary afterwards. Temporary emotional sensitivity is a listed and fairly common response. It passes.

Does it change my hormone levels? No. It doesn't increase testosterone or estrogen and it isn't hormone replacement.

A Little Reminder

This isn't about perfection, it's about consistency. Feeling close to the people you love is not a small thing to want, and it isn't vanity to want it back. You're not lazy and you're not broken. I'm really glad you're here. 💛
