Feel Better Guide — L-Carnitine

L-Carnitine · 500 mg vial · give intramuscular (IM), not sub-q

Informational only — not medical advice. I'm not a doctor, just a girl sharing what's helped me and the people I care about.

⚠️ IMPORTANT — this one is different: L-Carnitine is given as an intramuscular (IM) injection — into a large muscle (like the outer thigh or upper-outer glute) — not a subcutaneous (sub-q / "pinch an inch") shot like most of the other peptides. Same clean technique; just a different spot and usually a slightly longer needle.

Quick Facts

Vial 500 mg
Injection type Intramuscular (IM) — large muscle, not sub-q
Best known for Fat metabolism, energy, endurance & recovery

What Is It?

L-Carnitine is a naturally-occurring amino-acid derivative your body already uses to turn fat into usable energy. The injectable form is explored for fat loss, energy, workout performance, and recovery.

Who May Benefit?

  • People focused on fat loss who want an energy + metabolism helper
  • Anyone training hard who wants support with endurance and recovery
  • People who don't mind an intramuscular shot (this one isn't sub-q)

Benefits

  • Helps the body use stored fat for energy
  • Supports energy and reduced fatigue
  • May support exercise endurance and performance
  • May support post-workout recovery

How It Works

L-Carnitine's main job is to shuttle fatty acids into your cells' mitochondria — the little engines that burn fat for fuel. More available carnitine can mean your body is better equipped to use fat for energy, especially around movement and training.

What to Expect

Most people use it as an energy-and-fat-metabolism support around their workouts — not a stand-alone fat-loss shot. Effects are subtle and build with consistency plus training.

💛 T's Tip

Full transparency, babe — this is one I don't personally take, and here's why: L-Carnitine goes in the muscle, not the little sub-q pinch, and I'm a sub-q girl through and through. That's not a knock on it — plenty of people love it for energy and fat metabolism. If you're comfortable with an intramuscular shot (big muscle, outer thigh or upper-outer glute, slightly longer needle), it can be a nice helper around your workouts. Just know going in that it's a different kind of injection than the rest. — T

How It Comes & How to Inject

L-Carnitine usually arrives as a ready-to-use liquid (concentration can vary by product — check your vial's label). Give it IM into a large muscle:

  • Choose the outer thigh (vastus lateralis) or upper-outer quadrant of the glute
  • Clean the site, insert at 90°, aspirate if you were taught to, inject slowly
  • Rotate sites so you're not always hitting the same spot

Dosing (not medical advice)

Because the concentration and recommended dose can vary by product, follow the dosing on your vial or from your provider for the exact amount to draw. The key thing to remember: it goes IM, into a large muscle — not sub-q. Start conservative, see how you feel, and time it around your training.

Side Effects

Generally well tolerated. Some people report:

  • Injection-site soreness (more common with IM)
  • Mild nausea or stomach upset
  • A temporary "fishy" body odor at higher doses

Storage

Store per the product label — many injectable L-Carnitine solutions are kept refrigerated; some are room-temperature stable. Swab the stopper each time and use a fresh sterile syringe.

Helpful Tips

  • Give it IM — large muscle, not sub-q
  • Time it around your workouts / walks
  • Rotate injection sites
  • It's a support — pair it with protein, movement, and consistency

FAQ

Can I combine this with my other peptides? Using more than one peptide is common and perfectly fine — but different peptides should not be combined in the same syringe. A few technically can be mixed, but they don't always play well together, and in some cases they can work against each other, so you lose the benefit of both. It isn't worth the guesswork. Keep each peptide in its own syringe — you can still take them in the same sitting, one right after another. When in doubt, keep them separate.

Why is this one in the muscle and not sub-q? L-Carnitine is absorbed and tolerated better as an IM injection into a larger muscle. Just a different spot and usually a slightly longer needle — same clean technique.

Is this a fat-loss shot on its own? No — think of it as an energy-and-fat-metabolism helper that works best alongside training and the basics.

A Little Reminder

This isn't magic — it's a helper while you do the movement and the fueling. You're not lazy and you're not broken. I'm really glad you're here. 💛
